Boshkung Lake History

Our History: The Boshkung Song

Algonquin Highlands - Heritage Map Project

Heritage Map Project

A collaboration of the volunteers in the Oxtongue Lake area, the Dorset Museum, the Stanhope Museum, and you!

This website features cultural and historical maps of the Township; full of interesting information on pioneer settlers and settlements, historic sites, veterans and local lore.

The goal of this project and website is to engage with seniors in capturing, preserving and promoting the culture and heritage of the Township of Algonquin Highlands. Our settlement areas expanded beyond our geographic borders, so we include neighbouring hamlets.

This is a work in progress - your input is welcomed – photos, documents, and stories –  as they create a shared record of the history and culture of our communities on this website!

If you click the link named Listings, you’ll see the wonderful stories and pictures that have already been posted about Boshkung Lake and the surrounding area.

If you would like to share anything, please use the Contribute tab found at: Algonquin Highlands Heritage Map.

This project is funded by the New Horizons for Seniors program and supported by the Township of Algonquin Highlands.
