Bell Canada: Submarine Internet Installation on Boshkung - 2025

As an update to Barry Hicks’ post about the planned submarine fibre optic cable project on Boshkung [Friends of Boshkung, Facebook, September 22, 2024], I learned today from a Bell contractor inspecting our property and surrounding properties near the Matabanick Road that Bell has changed its mind, at least for those that have current Bell telephone pole/cable connections to their property.
The contractor said that Bell has reevaluated the best way to deliver fibre optic cable connections (for high speed internet) and submarine cabling may not be the best way for some locations on Boshkung, including Matabanick Road.
He wasn’t sure if the submarine fibre optic project is still going ahead in other parts of the lake, but he did say that those with existing Bell infrastucture, especially close to Hwy 35 where Bell has a sub-station, it appears they’ll use that to deliver fibre optic connections instead of new submarine cabling.
Is anyone else confused about what Bell is planning for Boshkung?
